Pierre and his family aren't religious, they don't use the temple in their house, instead choosing to let the other people in Pelican Town use it. Okay, I know it's not that big of a deal, but I had an issue when trying to do the Pierre's Prime Produce quest. I filled the box with 25 gold veggies I already had and then tried to grow 25 gold to meet both sides of the quest. I didn't grow all 25 and failed the quest, but I couldn't get the 25 I already turned in back. If you sell to Pierre but don't buy from Pierre the difference is taking money out of his pockets. No real difference. Box does count for achievements and such, selling to Pierre doesn't, but it's easy enough to not matter. Pierre will give you money right away, so good to sell excess to buy seeds if needed.
