This guy discovered that running 35 inch tires on his Trail Boss seriously overheated his transmission. You may find that switching to tires of that size will also require re-gearing your final drive. It depends on what your current gearing is. His was geared with a 3.42 rear end. Trucks with longer wheelbases allow for higher lifts than most. They let you run 35-inch tires and still have about 4 inches of clearance between the fender and the ground. You can go up to 7 inches in such circumstances. You can fit a 35-inch tire on 6 inches of lift on the Trail Boss. But in order to do so, you’ll need to get the right lift ... . The difference in ground clearance at the axle between 33” and 35” tires is 1”. 33”s will cost you $1200-$2000 depending on tire and if you will need new wheels. I’m running a 6 bds lift with 35x12.5 x18 -12 offset fuel wheels… my right front tire has very minor rubbing on the inside of the fender in reverse, all mud flaps are removed from my truck..
