Ak 74 bayonet - The AK74 rifle was developed in the early 1970s by famous Russian designer Mikhail Kalashnikov as the replacement for the AKM and AK47 Rifle. It uses a smaller 5.45x39mm cartridge, replacing the 7.62x39mm chambering of early Kalashnikov style weapons. The AK74 Rifle first saw action with Soviet forces engaged in the 1979 Afghanistan conflict.

 
The AK-74 is an adaptation of the AK-47, chambered in 5.45x39mm. The design was overseen by Mikhail Kalashnikov in 1974. The lighter rounds used by the AK-74 allow the operator to carry more ammunition, compared to the larger and heavier 7.62 cartridge. It is designed to work with the AKM/AK-74 pattern bayonet. However, I’ve found bayonet fit to be finicky. My Arsenal SLR-104 and SLR-107 only worked with Bulgarian bayonets.
